Western Mercantile Agency, Inc. was established in 1932 by a husband and wife living in Coquille, Oregon. From its modest beginnings, the company has grown into a cornerstone of the local business community, built on a foundation of integrity, respect, and personalized service.

In 1971, Patricia Webster joined the agency and quickly became a driving force behind its success. Immersing herself in every aspect of the business, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation, earning a management role within a few years. Under Patricia’s guidance, the agency expanded from a small team of four employees into a thriving enterprise.

In 1986, Patricia purchased the company from Thomas O'Dwyer. Recognizing the growing importance of technology, she modernized operations by transitioning to a fully computerized system the following year. Her forward-thinking approach was key to delivering outstanding customer service and operational excellence.

Patricia’s daughter, Michelle, grew up immersed in the collection business, often accompanying her mother to work and learning the ins and outs of the agency. Inspired by Patricia’s dedication, Michelle returned to Coos Bay in 1995 to begin her career at Western Mercantile Agency. By 1999, she had taken over management, and in 2017, she solidified her commitment by purchasing the business from her mother.

Today, Michelle leads the agency with the same core values of integrity, community engagement, and exceptional service. Western Mercantile Agency remains deeply connected to the local community, supporting local businesses and initiatives while fostering strong, lasting relationships with clients based on trust and transparency.
